Teen Gothic

Hello!! I’m new to goth music and have been going down lists and lists of the most recommended classic songs and bands. Of Lilies and Remains is one of the songs that truly clicked for me. The bassline, the innovative melody, the lyrics, the weird instruments… it sounds so fresh and unlike anything I’ve ever heard before. I can’t even describe how I’m supposed to feel when listening to the song, it’s not sad and moody, nor overly funky and upbeat, it just has this very specific vibe that carries this calm, manic energy.

It feels so strange to ask how do I go about looking for music in the same genre, considering it’s clearly under the goth umbrella. I just have yet to encounter any other songs like that! Any recommendations will be highly appreciated

it's just a shower thought that's beenracking my brain recently and now i'm curious

this song is one of my favorites by bauhaus. the lyrics are very unique and i know peter likes to write poetic and meaningful songs. anybody know what this song is about?

lyrics: Oh classic gentlemen Say your prayers To the wind, of prostitution To your faces, and Rex complexes Riddle my breast Full of the oppressed puss

Oh gentlemen, with your fish The you surround, all around And you man, will always point Your fishes, at me

But I will always exist Because I always exist Damn good too

The rat race begins The fat face stings I hold the fresh pink baby With a smile I slice off those rosy cheeks Because I feel so thirsty

And Oedipus Rex complexes Riddle my closed bloated breast

Bauhaus is so great with a lot of experimental variety and I love seeing what sound people prefer from their discography.

For me it’s currently: 1. Third Uncle 2. Telegram Sam 3. In the Night 4. Ziggy Stardust 5. Bite My Hip
